Sammy Lopez' YANKEES -vs- Mike O'Callahan's LEGION
This game was always too close to call from beginning to end. The Yankees
took an early 1st inning lead, scoring 5 runs. The Legion then scored 4 runs
in their 1st inning. The Yankees did not score in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th innings.
While the Legion scored 5 in the 2nd, 2 in the the 3rd, 4 in the 4th and 3 in the
5th inning. The Yankees fought back hard and furious, scoring 10 runs in the
6th inning, while the Legion could only manage 4 in that same inning. In the
7th, the Yankees added on 6 more runs and the Legion had a scoreless 7th.
The Yankees then added 3 runs in the 8th, while the Legion scored 2 runs
in that inning. Going into the 9th inning, both teams were tied at 24 runs
each. The Legion held the Yankees scoreless in the 9th inning. The
Legion had two runners on base, at 1st and 2nd. They were down to
their last out. A blast was sent into center field. The 2nd base runner
took off for 3rd. Somehow the throw into the infield, eluded the 2 Yankee
defenders, and the Legions runner on 3rd, took off, scoring the winning run.
This game was a nail-biter from beginning to end.
