The first time this Fall we've had enough players for 4 teams. On Field C, managers Tutrani and Wally squared off and the info I got from a couple of players is the Tutrani team dominated till the later innings and the final ended at about 21-17.

On to Field B where I played on Spitaleri's team against the Zelazny team. Spit jumped out 3-1 in the first innings and never looked back. After 3 innings it was 13-4 and the final ended up 19-9. There were 10 players on each team and Don Witmer played middle infield for both teams and he had a banner game, making no less than 12 plays, probably more. And not a single error.
Many hits and here are the hitters.
5 hits. DeLoach, Capozzi,
4 hits. Hill, Vandenberg, Constantine,
            Castilleja, Marino
3 hits. Testa, Zelazny, Lopez, Kniery,
            Spitaleri, Vining, Henry
2 hits. Boito.

We'll see yall Friday

See yall Tuesday.

BAT TESTING - Lou Guzman will be testing the compression on bats on Tuesday, September 19th. If you want to see how hot your bat is, come bring your bat to the ballpark and Lou will test it for you. This testing is not to be confused with the FHC compression testing where you will get a sticker to be put on your bat to use in FHC tournaments.

Tuesday, September 12th

A very well played 3 team game led by managers Wally, Spitaleri and Steve Hill. Hill's team came out on top with Spitaleri coming in 2nd and Wally's team taking the bronze. Score was 17-13-7.  It was also very hot by the 5th inning, but they pressed on to complete 7 innings with Commissioner Witmer calling the balls and strikes and Fabian calling the bases.

Notable plays were a 3 run HR by Ramon to account for 3 of Wallys runs and a HR by Manny on Spitaleri 's team. More notable was 3 leaping catches of line drives by Spitaleri at shortstop. Very nice plays Robert.

The hitters.
5 hits. Manny
4 hits. Hicks, Hill, Pablo, J.R.
3 hits. J.D., O'Callaghan,  DeLoach,
            Gutenberger, Tutrani
2 hits. Constantine, Ramon, Lopez, Wally
            Hudson, Fleming.

See y'all Friday

Recap for the week of 9/5 - 9/8

On Tuesday, September 5th, we had 42 players sign up to play ball. The Commish elected to have four teams, two 11-man teams and two 10-man teams. The Commish caught and umpired for the two 10-man teams on Field A. That game started out kind of lopsided with the visitors ahead 9-1 after three innings. The home team got a boost to their lineup when Manny Rios agreed to play in the fourth inning. The home team caught up to the visitors in the sixth inning and eventually won the game 18-16.

The 11-man teams on Field B battled it out but I did not get any writeup from that game. I know Robert Spitaleris' team won by a good margin.

On Friday, September 8th, we had 32 players sign up. We played a 3-Team game in which two of the teams battled it out for five innings. The score was 12-12-2 after five innings but Team 2 two scored five runs in the sixth and seventh inning to take a commanding ten run lead and win the game.

American League Update

On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the American League travel team made their way to Solivita for an exciting two-game match-up.
In the first game, we took an early lead by scoring 5 runs in the first inning. Our team continued to score in every inning, while the Solivita team tried to keep up with our relentless attack. In the end, we emerged victorious with a score of 23 to 22.
The second game presented a different challenge. We struggled to score for the first two innings, allowing the Solivita team to take the lead. However, they truly dominated the game and in the seventh inning they scored an impressive eleven runs. The final score stood at Solivita 30 and Winter Haven 17.
This thrilling encounter showcased the competitive spirit and determination of both teams. Despite the ups and downs, our team fought hard and displayed exceptional skills on the field. We look forward to future games and the opportunity to continue representing the American League with pride.
