A recap of last week's games reveals a blow out on Tuesday and another fairly lopsided game on Friday.

Tuesday - The managers were Ouding, Hite, and Zelazny. The Hite team broke out strong, scoring at will the first 4 innings while the others were sputtering.  After 4 innings the score was 17-5-0.
The final ended at 20-6-2. Here are the hitters, which most of were on Bob Hite team.
4 hits. Laffoon
3 hits. Keller, Tony Q, J-Rod, Jacobs,
2 hits. Meyer, Gutenberger, Skidmore, Manny Rios,
            DeRidder, Tutrani, Lynch, B.J., Hite,
            Harrell.
While we all know this is senior softball and anything can happen, nothing changed to affect the outcome of this game.  BUT, the same teams with the same players could play next week and have a totally different outcome.  That's part of the reason why we enjoy this game year around.

The Friday game, we welcomed Robert Spitaleri back from his trip to Africa to help build a church.  He managed the winning team with a better score than Tuesday games at 16-9-6. The other managers were Mark Tutrani which scored the 9 runs and Bob Zelazny. Again, the winning team jumped out strong the first 4 innings.  Here are the hitters.
3 hits. Rad, Manny, B.J. Gutenberger,
            O'Callaghan,
2 hits. Gonzalez, Anderson, Hudson, Lynch,
Zelazny, Meyer, J.R. Santaella, Coffman, Laffoon,
Charlie G.,  Spitaleri, JR Reed w/HR, Morton,
            Marino.
While many games during the summer, the only "fans in the stands" are Joyce and Brandi, it was different Friday as Bob and Melanie Hite are back for a while, so Melanie was there as was Christine DeRidder along with past ball players wives Sally Strait and Pat Merritt. 4 of them went for a lunch date after the game, which they've been doing once a month for quite some time. I'm sure that will go to 5 of them again when Don Lamay returns from Michigan with his wife Alice. Thats all folks. See y'all Tuesday.

Managers today were Thompson, Tutrani and Ouding. The game started out like wildfire as 20 runs were scored in the first 2 innings with the Ouding team only plating 1 of the runs. But then it slowed way down as only 11 runs were scored in the final 5 innings. Thompson and Tutrani ended up tied at 13 with Thompson scoring 3 in the 6th and 1 in the 7th while Tutrani got 3 in the 3rd then 4 goose eggs in a row. The Ouding team scored 5 in the last 2 innings for a total of 6.
Now the hitters.
4 hits. DeRidder, Skidmore,
3 hits. Rad, Laffoon, Gutenberger, Tutrani,
            Testa, Hudson,
2 hits. Vandenberg, Manny, Gelesky, Fabian,
            Castilleja, Hawbaker, J. Rod, Muniz,
            Capozzi, Gallagher, Lopez
See y'all Friday and there are no games next week because of a tournament being played at the Diamondplex.

J. Rod (Jose Rodriguez) came over from Lakeland to join us and had many routine plays at shortstop to accompany a couple really outstanding plays. Welcome Jose.

The National League had the pleasure of hosting seven American League Players today. Rad Pcholinski, Dave Shirer, Tony Quinones, Manny Rios, Rusty Skipper, Mark Tutrani and Wally Wallace joined the National League for a fun three team game. The game stayed close every inning with the lead changing several times. There was no reason to use the flip-flop rule for this game as the score going into the seventh inning was 10-12-12. The Hit team came alive in the top of the seventh inning and scored 4 runs to take the lead. The Sit team batted second but only managed to score 1 run so the Hit team still led by two runs going into the bottom of the seventh. The Field team was at the top of their line-up, so they expected to win this game but only managed to score two runs. The final score was:

Hit team.    14
Sit team.     13
Field team. 14

I do recall 2 Home Runs were hit, one by Ken Meyer but the other was not recorded on the score sheet and I don't recall who hit it.

See y'all Friday
