 Friday, July 28th

We had 34 players show up today to play ball. When the 3 teams were being put together, it was pretty apparent that this would be a high scoring game if they played up to their potential. When you look at the scores at the end of the game, they sure played up to their potential. Hope everyone had fun.

A very high scoring game today with a total of 64 runs being scored in 7 full innings being played. The managers all agreed to opt out of the flip-flop rule with the score being Tony Q 23, Gonzalez 22 and Wally 4 heading to the open inning. Wally's team did double their score with 4 in the 7th, while the other 2 teams scored in all 7 innings. Tony's team scored 6 in the open inning to finish with 29 and Freddy  G team scored 5 to finish with 27.
Final score of Tony Q 29, Gonzalez 27, Wally 8.
Naturally there was a ton of hits in the game along with at least a handful of errors (lol) to account for the 64 runs. You really needed to be there. The game didn't end until close to noon. See y'all Tuesday.

Friday, July 21st

As we all welcomed Commissioner Don Witmer back from battling some health issues, we ended up with a 3 team game. Managers were Freddy Gonzalez, Wally and Don Ouding.

Wally jumped out to a 9-3-2 lead after 2 innings but that lead was short lived as Fred's team put up back to back nickles and scored in every inning after to end up with the win and the final of 21-11-8. Don's team could never seem to get any traction and there were many double plays. The Gonzalez team dominated from the 3rd inning on.

The hitters.
4 hits. Robb, Anderson, B.J., Tutrani, Tony Q w/hr
            DeRidder
3 hits. Hicks, Guzzo, Rad w/hr, Gonzalez, Deloch
            Marino, Pete G.,
2 hits. Boswell, Lynch, J.R., Castilleja, Raymond

See y'all Tuesday.

League Update
Saturday, July 22, 2023
The Winter Haven Police Benevolent Association proudly launched their very first Kickball Tournament at Diamond Plex.
To ensure fair play, the Winter Haven Senior Softball League graciously provided umpires for this thrilling event. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Tony Quinones, Mark Tutrani, and Lou Guzman for their unwavering dedication, even in the scorching heat.
This exhilarating tournament, featuring eight formidable teams, successfully raised funds for the Winter Haven Police Youth Fund. We eagerly anticipate the next opportunity to lend our support and make a difference in our community.

Another great 3-Team game today. This time we had 39 players. Managers were Team 1-Wally, Team 2 - Don Ouding and Team 3 - Tony Quiniones. At the end of the 4th inning, the score was 5-3-2. It did not stay that way very long and at the end of the seventh inning, Team 2 Manager Don Ouding came out on top with 12 runs. Team 1 Manager Wally tried to pull another rabbit out of his hat but could only muster 10 Runs. Team 3 Manager Tony Quinones was in the running all of the time but finished with 7 runs.

Commissioner Witmer is not back at the fields yet but hopes to be there Friday.

A three-team game with 33 players was on board for the first time this morning since we haven't played in several weeks due to rain, tournaments and field maintenance. Everyone was glad to be back. Bob Zelazny volunteered to make up the teams and managed Team 2. Wally was the manager of Team 3. I can't remember the manager of Team 1. I don't have any batting averages or names of players but the score after six innings was Team 1- 7, Team 2 - 13 and Team 3 - 10. The first two teams didn't score any runs in the seventh inning.  So, Wally had to score 3 runs to tie the game and 4 runs to win it. As we all know, it ain't over until the last out of the last inning and Wally once again pulled a rabbit out of his hat and scored 4 runs to win the game.

Commissioner Witmer was off today due to some medical issues but will be back on Tuesday. A Great Big Thanks to Lou Guzman, the Board of Directors and Bob Zelazny for putting things together this morning so ya'll could play ball.

 GOOD NEWS

The games are on for tomorrow, Tuesday July 11th. There will be only one field available, Field A. The folks from the USA tournament will be at the park in the morning cleaning up from their four day tournament. The City has requested that "NO ONE" drive into the ball park for any reason. All parking will be in the Polk State College Parking lot and we will use Field A, the first field on the right as you walk into the park. Do not park in the clay area West of the ball fields. There is a chance of rain in the morning. Check the website again in the morning before you come to make sure the fields are playable.

Thanks.

American League Update.

This message brought to you by Estates at Carpenters.

The American League players journeyed to Solivita, donning our striking gold shirts adorned with various sponsors on the back. The anticipation was palpable as we prepared for a thrilling doubleheader in the heat.
In the first game, excitement filled the air as we maintained a steady lead throughout, holding a promising 12-10 advantage until the top of the seventh inning. Our hopes, however, were dashed when Joey Santos of Solivita delivered a game-winning home run in the bottom of the seventh, narrowly defeating us with a score of 12-13.
The second game proved to be a fierce battle, with both teams exchanging blows until the sixth inning. As the dust settled, Solivita emerged with a 14-11 lead. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to score in the bottom of the seventh, resulting in a disappointing loss with a final score of 14-11.
The doubleheader in Solivita showcased the intense competition and unwavering determination of both teams. Although we faced setbacks, we remain committed to honing our skills and striving for victory in future games.
