NATIONAL LEAGUE

First, I'd like to say that Robert and Linda Spitaleri have graciously agreed to take over the task of the WHSS Angel Tree from retiring Elmer Black who won't be down for the Winter. Joyce and I have always bought and wrapped the gifts we buy, and it is very gratifying for a great cause. PLEASE - if you can, buy and wrap the gifts 🎁 to take some of the pressure off of Robert and Linda. And of course, if you can't simply get the child's name and donate the money. Thanks

The game on Friday was a low scoring affair with a final of 9-8 in favor of Team Zelazny over Team Ouding. There never was a 5 run inning with Team Ouding coming the closest with 4 runs in the top of the 6th. Team Zelazny managed 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning and that was the end of all scoring for both teams.
Obviously not a lot of hits but here are they are.

3 hits. Spitaleri, Spellman, Reagan
2 hits. Skidmore, Hill w/hr, Kasperek,
            Capozzi, Poke, Mathew, Dampier,
            DeRidder, Zelazny, Learn, Harrell
That's it for this week. See y'all Tuesday

Have a great day.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
The American League had 24 players today. Tommy Hamilton and Lou Guzman went at it again but with different results from Tuesday. Lou's team brought their hot bats with them today. As the visitors, they scored 20 runs and they flip flopped in the ninth inning to keep from getting another time at bat. Final score was 20-11.

ANGEL TREE      ANGEL TREE     ANGEL TREE     ANGEL TREE     ANGEL TREE

Hey everybody, it's time to start thinking about all the children that we are going to provide gifts for this year at the Lake Elbert Elementary School. Robert Spitaleri and his wife Linda are going to run the Angel Tree. Elmer Black has done a great job for many years, but he will not be coming to Florida this year. We should be getting some names from the school in a week or so. We would like everyone to pick a name off of the tree, buy the gift, wrap it and bring it back to the ballpark. We will except donations of $25.00 if you are not able to go shopping and wrap the gift. Ya'll have been fantastic ever since Elmer Black started this program and we would like to continue our support of the school. We will have a white board posted at the sign in desk to remind everyone.

Thanks.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

There were two teams of 13 players each today and managers were Steve Hill and Don Ouding.
The game was close for the first 3 innings then Ouding's team scored 5 and went on to win 15 to 11 in a 9 inning game.
Steve Hill's team had a rally in the 7th inning that made the game closer.

The Don Ouding team was led in hitting by Mathew Tomashoff who went 5/5. Others hitting very well for that team were Freddie Dampier, and Bob Zelazny.

Bobby Skidmore, Tim Gallagher, and B.J. Kallister led the hitting for Steve Hill's team going 3/4 each.

It was so good to be back playing after the hurricane.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

We had enough players today to have four teams. Two teams in the American League and two teams in the National League. Lou Guzman and Tommy Hamilton were managers and the game stayed close for eight innings. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Team Hamilton scored four runs to take a three-run lead going into the ninth inning. Team Guzman did not score in the ninth inning due to a great play in the outfield by Al Guzzo and a great 6-6-3 double play by Rad Pcholinski. Final score 14-11, Team Hamilton.

The National Guard Tournament schedule for this weekend has been postponed due to Hurrican Ian. The National Guard has been deployed to provide hurricane assistance around the state. The tournament will be rescheduled at a later date.

Thanks for everyone that signed up to help umpire that tournament. I will be calling on you again as soon as the National Guard lets me know the new dates.

No games tomorrow, Tuesday October 4th. The City has not cleaned up the hurricane damage yet. They expect to have it completed by Friday and we should be able to play ball then. I will keep you informed as I am updated by the City.
