 Tuesday, November 22nd

This may have very well been the lowest scoring 3 team game in WHSS history. It certainly is since I've been here. With a total of 20 runs being scored here's how they finished. Spitilari team 10, Tutrani team 8 and the Ouding team took the bronze with 2 runs. As one might imagine, there were fewer errors than usual with a lot of very nice fielding plays and double plays
Only one player, Steve Hill even had 4 at bats and several only had 2 at bats.
Here are the hitters.

3 hits. Hill, Miller, Kniery,  Gazarek,
2 hits. Laffoon, Hunter, Guzzo, B.J.
            Shaffer, Lopez, Jacob, Rutan

See y'all Friday and Happy Thanksgiving

Friday November 18th

Games are on. It is a little cold this morning. It might be an earmuff day.

 Tuesday, November 15th

We had enough players to have four teams today. We combined some of the American League players with the National League and what a game it was. In the fifth inning, Tommy Hamilton's team was ahead 16-6. The opposing team battled back and the final score was 20-20.

In the National League, we had two teams of 13 players on a team. Bob Zelazny and Don Ouding managed the teams with Bob Zelazny coming out on top 16-9.

See y'all Friday.   by Loren Fabian

 Friday, November 4th

There was no American league game today and Don put together a very good 3 team game on field B with 11 players on each team. They were led by Constantine, Zelazny and Ouding with the Constantine led team coming out on top 15-7-12
The Ouding team claimed 2nd place.  The game was very close after 5 innings Constantine 6, Zelazny 7 and Ouding 8.  After that the Zelazny team put up all goose eggs. Ouding plated 4 more in the 6th and Constantine managed a couple big innings of 5 and 4 runs for the final.
Tom Capozzi was the only player with 4 hits and here are the rest.

3 hits. Miller, Tutrani, Jacobs, Mathew,
            Skidmore, Gallagher,
2 hits. Alf, Constantine, Lynch, Anderson
            Meyer, Fabian, Poke, Testa, Lloyd
            Ouding, Kuelwine, Harrell, Zelazny

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT WINTER HAVEN SENIOR SOFTBALL

1. No games next week, Tuesday Nov. 8th and Friday Nov. 11th. There is a SSUSA Winter National Tournament being played at the Diamondplex because of Hurrican Ian's impact in Ft. Myers. There are a bunch of our old guys playing in this tournament on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you want to watch some good softball, come out and watch them. The schedule is out and can be found on the SSUSA website under 2023 Tournaments.

2. There are games this Friday, Nov. 4th. When we begin playing again on Tuesday, Nov 15th, we are changing our game times. On the 15th, be there no later than 9:00 AM and we will play ball as soon thereafter as we can. It doesn't hurt to be there a little early. It does create a problem when you are late. The number of players that show up depends on the number of teams that we have and how many players that we have on each team. Don't complain if you show up late and we have 15 or 16 players on a team.

3. We have a lot of players that have not sent their applications in to Bob Hite or filled out an application at the ballpark. We need to know how many players we are going to have for the 2023 season so we can order shirts in time for the season to begin on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023. Please get your applications in as soon as possible. The fee for the 2023 season is still $40.00. You will get two new shirts and one new ball cap this season. You can always call me and I will add your name to the list. If I don't recognize your number, it will go to voicemail and I will call you back. Call me at 863.860.5381.

4. Hurrican Ian not only impacted our playing time at the Diamondplex, but has put us and Lake Elbert Elementary School behind in our ANGEL TREE program. We expect to have the children's names soon. We have started collecting money for the children but really want you to pick a name from the ANGEL TREE, buy the gift, wrap it and return the gift to the Diamondplex by Friday, Dec. 2nd. This may be the only gifts some of these children get for Christmas and we need everyone's support for the great program.

5. The Enjoyment Books are here. They are still $30.00. They do not contain as many local coupons as they used to due to the current economy, but you can register the book and they will send you offers for other discounts throughout the year. It is still a good deal and helps support Winter Haven Senior Softball by keeping our league fees reasonable. Books are available from Don Witmer.

THANKS,

Don Witmer, Commissioner
