A recap of last week's games reveals a blow out on Tuesday and another fairly lopsided game on Friday.
Tuesday - The managers were Ouding, Hite, and Zelazny. The Hite team broke out strong, scoring at will the first 4 innings while the others were sputtering. After 4 innings the score was 17-5-0.
The final ended at 20-6-2. Here are the hitters, which most of were on Bob Hite team.
4 hits. Laffoon
3 hits. Keller, Tony Q, J-Rod, Jacobs,
2 hits. Meyer, Gutenberger, Skidmore, Manny Rios,
DeRidder, Tutrani, Lynch, B.J., Hite,
Harrell.
While we all know this is senior softball and anything can happen, nothing changed to affect the outcome of this game. BUT, the same teams with the same players could play next week and have a totally different outcome. That's part of the reason why we enjoy this game year around.
The Friday game, we welcomed Robert Spitaleri back from his trip to Africa to help build a church. He managed the winning team with a better score than Tuesday games at 16-9-6. The other managers were Mark Tutrani which scored the 9 runs and Bob Zelazny. Again, the winning team jumped out strong the first 4 innings. Here are the hitters.
3 hits. Rad, Manny, B.J. Gutenberger,
O'Callaghan,
2 hits. Gonzalez, Anderson, Hudson, Lynch,
Zelazny, Meyer, J.R. Santaella, Coffman, Laffoon,
Charlie G., Spitaleri, JR Reed w/HR, Morton,
Marino.
While many games during the summer, the only "fans in the stands" are Joyce and Brandi, it was different Friday as Bob and Melanie Hite are back for a while, so Melanie was there as was Christine DeRidder along with past ball players wives Sally Strait and Pat Merritt. 4 of them went for a lunch date after the game, which they've been doing once a month for quite some time. I'm sure that will go to 5 of them again when Don Lamay returns from Michigan with his wife Alice. Thats all folks. See y'all Tuesday.
