The write-up of today's game is not an easy one, as we had two teams heading in opposite directions. The Flyers were very depleted, as they could only field 9 of their starters. The Nats were only missing one. The Flyers stayed close to the middle of the fourth with the score tied at 8. However, the rest of the game belonged to the Nats as they compiled 18 runs to the Flyers 2 runs. This made the final score 26-10 for the Nats. Tom Kniery stood out amongst the defensive players by making numerous plays at 3rd base on sharp grounders. One inning alone he was responsible for all 3 outs.
Before we get to the hitters, I want to talk to you about Polk County Senior Softball Hall of Fame. Players who have served in many categories such as administrator, manager, served on the BOD, umpire with constant goodwill and sportsmanship are rewarded by being nominated and elected into the Hall of Fame. This year the Nats' Bob Hite is one of these people. Personally, in my 24 years of playing WHSS, I know of no other who is more deserving of this award. Congratulations, Bob. The awards are being held March 16th at Lake Ashton in Winter Haven. Team mates and all players, please try to be there for Bob. For more info and tickets, check with the BOD at the sign-in table. Thanks.
