Today the Nats met the class of 2022. So far we still have two other teams to play. Dukes, managed by Steve Hill, got off to a roaring start by scoring 4 in the 1st, adding 3 in the 2nd. The Nats tied the score by putting up 7 in the bottom of the 2nd. This was to be the last time the teams would be tied. The Dukes piled on 5 runs in each of the 3rd and 4th innings. After the 4th, the Dukes led 17 – 7.
However, the Nats clawed back into the game by scoring 6 in the 5th and 7 in the 8th to close the deficit to one run 26 – 25. In the 9th, Dukes scored one and the Nats could not counter, making the final score 27 – 25 Dukes. We learned a lesson in defeat. Do not let the hard hitting Dukes get 10 runs up on you. Period.
