A very good and competitive game was played by both teams. The Coconuts were leading by 7 in the top of 9th inning when Sam's Yankees came to bat. They scored 9 runs with excellent hitting to lead 21 to 19. The Coconuts were home team and scored 3 to win. Final score was 22 to 21.
Jerry Witter pitched for the Yankees until he had to leave for an appointment in the 7th inning. B.J. Kallister took over as pitcher.
Excellent hitting for the Yankees were Chris Constantine, Ken Galinas, Freddie Gonzalez, Greg Denny, Bobby Ayers, B.J. Kallister and Sammy Lopez.
Wayne Shearer and Ralph Boswell had key hits also. Ralph is still recovering from gout and we are glad he was able to play.
Sam Lopez the manager did extra duty in getting the equipment out and then helping bring it all in.
The Yankees had 2 pool players Bob Hudson and Bobby Ayers.
The Coconuts were led in hitting by: Jose Rivera, Ed Gazarek, Les Jacobson, Rick Brock, Joe LeTourneau, Bobby Castilleja, Ken Meyers and Pat Lopiccolo. Richard Kay and Julian Puma had key hits to bring in runs. We were missing Cathy McDonald who was out with sprained muscle. We hope to see here on Tuesday.
Prayer was held on the pitching mound after the game and was well attended. We thanked Our Father for many blessings and lifted up Rick Brock's sister-in-law and Mark Tutrani's brother who are experiencing difficult health issues.
