The National game on Field D was between the Pirates and the Braves.
The Pirates scored one run in the first inning with Torres getting the key hit to score Don Hawbaker. The Braves scored 5 runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. The first five hitters scored on back to back to back doubles--Milo Macko. Russ King, and Bill McLellan.
The Pirates had two runs in the second inning and three in the third inning.
 The Braves scored four in the second and five in the third to take the lead.
The score after three innings was 14-6 Braves in the lead.
The Pirates did not score again until the eight inning with one run and three in the ninth. The Braves continued to add to their lead by scoring four runs in the fifth inning and five in the sixth.
Final Score was Braves 23 --Pirates 10.
