Today's opening day game was a three team affair. The hit team manager was Larry Powell and inc: Spitaleri, Macko, Mclellan, Harlan, King, Augie, Fulton, Ayala, Bloom, Podliesni, Ragonese. The sit team manager was Floyd Welton, and inc: Barnes, Ducham, Guspyt, Miller, Chamblis, Andrews, M Mohan, Bess, Witter, Holley and D. Holder. The field team was managed by Jeff Simon and inc: D. Hill, grabb, Marino, Remington, Zakrowski, Moots, Merritt, G. Seguin, Gibson and Long.
The hit team scored 3 in the first, 1 run for the sit team and 3 for the field team powered by a Grabb 3B. Simon's field team was the only squad to score in the second frame and got 2 runs to cross the plate and take a 2 run lead.
In the top of the third Powell's hit team took a brief lead with a 5 run spurt on a McClellan triple. The field team responded with 4 runs to lead 8-1-9. The sit team bats were quiet all game and only scored a single run in the first inning. The hit team scored twice in the fourth inning and the field team responded with two runs of their own on a Russ Long HR. After 4 innings of play Simon's field team had a one run lead on Powell's hit team 11-10. at that point the hit team scored 12 runs over the final 3 innings and the field team bats were silenced with only a single run scored in the fifth inning.
Final score was 22-1-12. WP was Powell. Powell's team earned 2 points and Simon's team earned 1 point. Everyone enjoyed the game and the KFC luncheon.
