Opening day 2015 in the Winter Haven Senior Softball League.  Today’s game on Field E between teams managed by Don LaMay for the visitors and Elmer Black for the home team.  LaMay’s team featured this lineup:  Thompson, Taylor, Shaffer, Scarbrough, Stepp, Mohan, Evans, Michalski, Leggett, G. Baker, DePalma, Yarletts, and McPartlin.  Black’s team looked like this:  Altemose, Strait, Peterson, Burns, Lopez, Crowe, Waddell, Ayer, Gallagher, Pelletier, J. Smith, B. Taylor, Black and Bowley.
Thompson, Taylor, Shaffer, started the first with singles, after a double play, Mohan and Evans had base raps and Michalski lined a triple down the left field line to drive in the 4th and 5th runs of the inning.  Altemose starts the last of the first with a walk, after a fielders choice and base raps by Burns and Lopez produced 2 runs for Black’s team.  The second inning saw the visitor post a 0 for the inning.  The home team tallied a run on a home run by Gallagher.  McPartlin leads off the third with a hard smash up the middle and is followed Thompson, Taylor with hits.  Shaffer drives one too deep right center and a good running catch was made as a runner tagged up and scored on the sac fly.  The next four batters have base raps and the visitors tally 5.  In the bottom of the inning Smith singles, Taylor triples and after a couple of walks Altemose drives in the 3rd run of the inning for the home team.  After 3 score is Visitors. 10 - Home. 6.
The visitors scored 6 over the next two innings and both teams started to think about the Kentucky Fried Chicken dinner.  Final Score ended Visitors 22 and Home Team 8 as the flip flop rule was in effect.
Things to note.  Between both team there was 5 double plays executed.  Some on really good plays.
Leading hitters, Altemose 3 for 3 w/ walk, Burns 3 for 4. Gallagher 2 home runs, Taylor 2 for 3 with 3b
Thompson 5 for 5, Taylor 3 for 5 with 3b, Shaffer 3 for 3 with sac fly, Evans 4 for 4 with dbl,  Leggett 3 for 3 with walk.
