Cool and Breezy

Field D

The Amerity Financial All Stars hosted the Kentucky Fried Chickens this morning on a very chilly and breezy Field D.

The Amerity Financial Home team, managed by Ron Butler, came up a few players short but thanks to pool players and the BYE team, fielded 11. His team mates were Zelazny, Lafoon, Finnegan, Wiltshire, Hartley, Poke, Kallister, Andrews, Deemie and Capozi.

The Pen Geo, Inc. squad managed by Nick Matta had just about a full team of 12 with Dampier, Drouilard, Brock, Erb, Seguin, DeRidder, Reagan, Oesterreich, Benson, Ing and Roy.

The Visitors started off hot and put up 14 runs in the first 5 innings to the Home Squad's feeble 4.  In the first two innings the home team dropped or missed several easy fly balls to center and left center mainly due to the bright sun and low solar angle.  Unfortunately, when the home team batted the clouds moved in so the home boys easy flys turned into easy outs. Hey that's why we play the game ... so we have something to whine about later.

But we can't blame the sun for everything, for that we have to blame Herbie O and Bobby Reagan.  They managed to run down some well hit balls and turned extra base hits into outs.  Outstanding defensive play guys!

Meanwhile the Home team's pool players Walt Deemie and Tom Capozi played well at second and first turning in some very nicely done plays.

When it was all said and done the visitors beat the home squad 18 - 10.

Winning pitcher was Nick Matta with some relief help from Rick Brock.
