The score sheet shows a home run by Alan Miller in the 3rd and he was the only member going four for four for Wally World and the writer remembers another one over the 2nd fielder's head but does not show in the scorebook. Congrats to whoever was the other long-ball hitter.
The Mets had three long balls, two by Toro who also went five for five. Zelazny also hit one four bagger for the Mets.
The score was 10-9 Mets at the end of three, but the Mets gradually pulled away from that point to post a 23-13 win bringing their record to 6 and 6 for the season.
Both teams loaned the other team a player when injuries took a player from each team needing temporary medical help.
Both pitchers went the entire 9 innings with Bob Vandenberg posting his career 300th win or maybe it was closer to his 2nd or 3rd win this year. It is difficult to keep these things straight. Anyway, congrats to Bob for the win today.
Both teams showed good sportsmanship, and both did an excellent job of officiating.
TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY AT THE OLE BALLPARK.
