Tuesday 2/20/2024 the Dukes hosted the Yankees on Field C. The games between these two teams are always a good match up, and this one did not disappoint anyone.
The Yankees came out smoking, scoring 5 runs while recording just one out. Their key blows were a 2 RBI single by Arvil Waddell down the right field line and a long double by Gerry DeRidder. The Dukes also posted 5 runs, in large part on Tom Witten's bases clearing triple. 5-5 after one.
In the 2nd the Yankees did not score while the Dukes added 5 more on hits by John Turchetta, Mark White and Pete Gutenburger. 10-5 Dukes. The Yankees scored 3 in the 3rd as Don Keller, Jim Hus and Bobby Castilleja had hits to make it 10-8 Dukes.
The Dukes pulled away 19-9 after 4, but the Yankees kept coming back, after the top of the 8th, the score was 25-28 Dukes. The Dukes added 4 in the bottom of the 8th to extend their lead to 32-25. Both team were looking a little weary, the Yankees scored one in the 9th to finish the scoring 32-26 Dukes. Final
