Today's game between the Cobras and the Dukes was played on field D .

In top of the 1st , the visiting Cobras loaded the bases after two outs . Hal Ridley sent a line drive down the 3rd base line that looked like it might clear the bases . The Dukes Wayne Vorhes managed stretch up and make an overhead catch for the 3rd out . The Dukes plated 5 runs on rbi hits by Wayne Vorhes and Dale johnson , followed by Willie Morton's triple . After one, 5-0 Dukes .

The Cobras 2nd , saw their bottom of their order tie the game at 5 , on hits by Ed Spegel , Don Hawbaker , Tom Capozzi , Marshall Bloom and a double by Wally Granger . The Dukes went Scoreless . End of two score tied 5-5 .

Fred Dampier started the 3rd with his 1st of two walks , followed by 4 straight doubles , by Bob Vandenburg , Joe peskie , Bob Spitaleri and Hal Ridley scoring 5 more runs to take the lead . The Dukes answered with 5 of their own , started by a Ron Thompson double and a Bob Skidmore home run . Score tied 10 - 10 after three .

The 4th and 5th were quite with the Cobras adding single runs in both innings to take the lead , while holding the Dukes scoreless . End of five score 12 -10 Cobras .

The Cobras extended their lead by 4 in the 6th , adding 2 runs on hits by Ken Gelinas and Tom Capozzi . The Dukes retook the lead after one out with six consecutive hits including a Bob Zelazny homer . Score after six 14 - 15 Dukes .


The Cobras went up by one in the 7th on a two run Wally Granger double , smashed into the fence . Martin Spellman solo homer tied the game at 16 .

The  Cobra went scoreless in the 8th , while the Duke's Bob Zelazny hammed his 2nd home run of the game , with Steve Hill aboard to take the lead 16-18 .

The Cobras had the tying runs on base when a great throw from 1st baseman Ray Roy to 3rd baseman Dale Johnson , who tagged the runner , trying to get to 3rd , for the final out . End of game 16 -18 Dukes .

Offense stars > Cobras , Fred Gonzales and Bob Vandenburg  3-4 , Joe Peskie 2-3 w . Dukes , Steve Hill and Bob Zelazny 4 - 4 and Willie Morton 3-3 w .
