The game between the DeRailers and the Dukes was played on Field A today .
The visiting DeRailers posted 3 runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings on key hits by Herbie , Ed Gazarek , Gerry DeRidder and Mick Hartley . The Dukes after a scoreless 1st , scored six times on straight seven hits in the second , to tie the score at six . Their big hits were provided by Larry Chrest , Dave Hartley and Dale Johnson .
The DeRailers took a one run lead in the 3rd on a hit by Russ King while holding the Dukes scoreless again .That was the pattern for the Dukes today , as they managed just one run over the next 4 inning , while the DeRailers scored four in the 4th and two in both the 5th and 6th innings to take a commanding 15 - 7 lead after six .
The Dukes came alive in the bottom of the 7th , on hits by Bob Zelanzy Willie Morton and Dave Hipel , scoring 5 runs , making the score 15 - 12 DeRailers .
The Derailers answered with 5 of their own in the 8th , with big hits from Bobby Murphy and Don McCulloch . The Dukes scored only one . End of the eight , 20-13 DeRailers .
After holding the DeRailers scoreless for the first time all day in the top of the 9th , the Dukes mounted a comeback . After one out the Dukes score 3 runs on a bases loaded double by Dave Hartley . But that was as close as the Dukes got . End of game 20-16 DeRailers .
