Today's game between the Braves and the Dukes was played on field D , sometimes called the sun field . Not today as strong winds and a light rain controlled the game .
The Dukes scored first posting three in the bottom of the 1st , on hits by Wayne Vorhes and Willie Morton .
The Braves came back with four in the 2nd on hits by Jerry Remington , Pat Lopicco and Don Lamay , followed by a Mark Gallagher triple . The Dukes regained the lead with two in the bottom of the 2nd . After two 5-4 Dukes .
The after the Dukes added one in the 3rd , the Braves took the lead 10-6 , with three in each the 4th and 5th innings . Their big hits were provided by Nic Burns , Larry Strait ,Gary Burtner and Ray Levesque . The Dukes answer with a 5 spot on hits by Ray Roy , Bob Skidmore and Steve Hill to make it 11-10 , Dukes after five .
The Dukes extended their lead to 14-10 with three in the 6th.
The Braves jump ahead in the 7th , 15-14 with five runs on a key bases loaded double by Nic Burns . The Dukes added three, on hits by Dave Hipel and Dale Johnson in their half of the inning . End of seven ,17-15 Dukes .
After holding the Braves scoreless , Dukes broke the game open in the bottom of the 8th, adding 5 five runs to make the score 22-15 . The Braves added just one run in the 9th making the final score 22-16 Dukes .
