What an evenly played game between the Cobras, managed by Bob Vandenberg, replacing Tom Capozzi, and the Post 8 Legion, managed by Mike O'Callaghan. Note of interest: Mgr. Capozzi is awaiting surgery this coming Thursday. All WHSS players are wishing him success and a speedy recovery.
Before we get to the game, let's pay homage to our Board of Directors for supplying pizza and drinks to players and spectators. That's not all. What beautifully tasting cake provided by Melanie and Bob Hite. A nice way to finish off the morning. There was ample food for all. As a matter of fact, I won't name him, but the Legion's second baseman sitting at our table ate enough to cover his annual dues.
The game was a surprisingly low score, for two hard hitting teams on the short field. However, Alan Miller put three over the fence, but the third one cleared all three fences in right field. Would have been over the fence on all other diamonds. In all, 26 hits for the Cobras to 24 hits for the Legion. The lead changed hands six times with the Legion prevailing to win 14 to 13.
