De Railers vs Cobras:
Tournament, Opening Day
The crossing gates opened-up in the first inning. The De Railers headed down the tracks with a slew of singles by Herb-O, Pinnick, McColloch, Gazarek, Rutan, King, McNally and a sacrifice fly by D’Herin scoring 5 runs. The Cobras got charmed by the horn and raised up to score 5 runs with hits from Dampier, Gonzales, Peskie, Hawbaker, Ridley, Spegel and Gelinas, tying the score 5 to 5. Red lights were flashing as the De Railers moved slowly down the tracks posting 3 runs by the 7 th inning. Green lights were flashing as the Cobras barreled down the tracks posting 16 runs by the 7 th inning. In the 8 th and 9 th innings the De Railers shoveled a bunch of coal with hits by Herbie, Pinnick, DeRidder, McColloch, Gazarek, D’Herin, Rutan, Mears, and Bowley and added 14 runs to finish. In the top of the 9 th with 23 runs. The Cobras railed 3 runs in the bottom of the 8 th inning starting with singles by Spitaleri and Gonzalas and finishing with Dampier’s HR, derailing the De Railers in the middle of the 9 th . Final score Cobras 24 De Railers 23.
