The season got off to a roaring start with many one run games as indicated by Fabian's Flyers besting Strait's Braves 18-17. The Flyers jumped to a 6-1 lead after 3 innings but the Braves put up a nickel in the 4th but the Flyers answered right back with 5 in the fifth inning. From there it was back an forth till the bottom of the 8th with the Braves leading 16-14. The Flyers were able to plate the first 4 hitters of Coffman, Benson, Hunter and Hite to take a 2 run lead and then hold the visiting Braves to one run in the top of the 9th.
It was a very well played game by both teams with the right side of the Flyers infield G. Seguin and Joann Westerman turning in a very stable performance aided one of two plays of the game by Bob Hite playing middle infield. Running to the outfield grass with his back to the infield, reached out to snag a long pop fly. The other great catch was by Bill Mclellan of a screaming line drive above him which he went high to snag. At least a foot off the ground.
Strait's hitters. Newton 3-4, Knox 2-4, LeTourneaue 2-4, Mclellan 4-4, Boito 2-4, Ayer 4-4, Remington 3-4, Reed 3-4, Lopiccolo 3-4.
Fabian's hitters. Joanne 2-4, Kallister 3-4, Vanderhyde 2-4, Benson 4-4, Hunter 3-4, Hite 2-4, Gisele 3-4, Gibson 2-4, Fabian 2-3.
See y'all Friday
