The Dukes hosted the Legion Post 8 today on field B . The game started slow for the Legion scoring one in the 2nd on hits by Ralph Boswell , the Hammer and Bob Hammond . While the Dukes scored two runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings . Their hits were provided by Herb Oesterreich and a home run by George Vanderhyde in the 1st followed by a Greg Denny single , a Charlie Sykes double and a ken Meyer single . 4-1 Dukes after two .
The Legion scored one in the 3rd on hits by Mike OCallaghan , Jerry Witter and Giselle Seguin . The Dukes added 4 runs on hits By Don Lamay , Ray Levesque, Herb O , Steve Hill and Frank Jacobs . The Dukes got one run in the 4th on a Sykes 3 bagger and a Steve Pinnick single . 9-2 Dukes after fourth .
After both team went scoreless in the 5th . The Legion went crazy with two outs in the top of the 6th , scoring 6 runs . On hits by Bill Bowley , Bob Kuehlwein , George Knox , Chris Lynch , Jim Hunter and Boswell , to trim the Dukes lead to 9-8 . The Dukes could only answer with 3 runs on singles by Joe Peskie , and Jacobs , followed by a Brad Swenson triple and hits by Sykles , Meyer and Lamay . Dukes 12-8 after six .
The Legion added two runs while holding the Dukes scoreless in the 7th . Key Legion hits were a Hammer single and a Bob Hammond triple and a ground out . Dukes 12-10 after seven .
The 8th saw the Dukes added 3 runs on 4 hits to extend their lead to 15-10 .
The Dukes held the Legion scoreless in the top of the 9th , ending the game on a nice double play . Final score 15-10 Dukes .
