A very good game was played today between Sammy Lopez's Yankees and The Fighting Coconuts.
Neither team scored in the first 2 innings due to excellent defense. Finally, both teams began to score in each of the following innings. Both pitchers, that is Larry Wells for the Yankees and B.J. Kallister for the Coconuts, did a good job and there were no walks given.
For the Coconuts good hitting was provided by Gary Burtner, Joe LeTourneau, Tom Capozzi, and John Gibson.
Key hits for the Yankees were from Jerry Remington (4/4), Jose Rivera, Tom Benson and Ken Gelinas.
Of significant note here is that the defense on both sides was sound resulting a minimum of errors.
Final score: Coconuts 19 vs Yankees 12.
