What a fantastic opening day of the 2024 league season spearheaded by commissioner Don Witmer. Everything was great and even the weather cooperated as it was the nicest day we've had in a couple weeks. George Tinsley and the KFC truck showed up right on time, the games ended on time and the meal was very easy for the BOD to serve, simply handing out the boxes.
For those who don't know of George Tinsley, he is in our age group and played in the old ABA before the merger with the NBA. He then became a very successful businessman in the restaurant industry. He has been a sponsor of WHSS for many years and has been inducted into our Hall of Fame for his many years of supporting us. He had some photographers there today taking pictures for marketing of his many restaurants and said he would send some to Don.
I'm sure the managers will post write ups of the 4 games. I umpired Field A between the LoPiccolo/Thompson Mets and Spitaleri's Coconuts. The Coconuts won that match by 5 runs.
See y'all Tuesday.
