A highly competitive game today on Field A between the only 2 undefeated teams, the Duke’s and the Yankees. And it was a battle back and forth until the final out, with 5 lead changes. The Duke’s came out swinging to start the game and scored 3 runs. The Yankees answered with 5 runs for the early lead after one inning. Back and forth the lead changed until the 5th inning , when the Yankees led 12-10. Every time the Duke’s would score in the top of the inning, the Yankees answered in the bottom. With the Yankees leading 19-16 in the top of the ninth, the Duke’s plated 2 runs with 2 outs. The final out was a liner to shortstop Don Witmer, with the tying run on first base. Although there were some miscues from both teams in the field, for Guys this age, it is amazing that that we are still able to enjoy this game we love. Great job to both squads.
All players except one on each team had at least one hit, which really gave those yellow softballs a workout.
