The game between the Post 8 and the OJ's was played on field A . Post 8 opened the scoring in the top of the first inning on a double by Ray Levesque to take a 1-0 lead . The OJ's answered on doubles by Steve Hill , Sam Lopez and Jim Laffoon to take a 2-1 lead after one .
The OJ's squeezed in one more in the bottom of the 2nd taking a 3 to 1 lead . Post 8 added two on 3 straight singles by their bottom 3 batters to tie the score at 3 after three .
The 4th and 5th innings went scoreless as good defense was played by both teams .
Post 8 took a 6 - 3 lead in the 6th on another hit by Lee Baker , followed by hits from Bobby Skidmore and Duff Hill . After the first two batters were out the OJ's put up 4 runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 7 to 6 lead , after six .The key Hit was a two run double by hobbling Ken Weber .
Post 8 added one in the 7th to tie the game at 7 . The OJ's started the bottom of the inning on 3 straight singles by their bottom 3 hitters to load the bases . The top of the lineup pushed them in plus two more to posted 5 runs in their half of the inning , taking a 12 to 7 lead . The big hits were off the bats of number 3 & 4 hitters Jim Laffoon and Bobby Ayers .
Post 8 added one run in the top of the 8th to finish the scoring . Final score 12 to 8 , OJ's .
