The game today featured the National league leader Nationals vs The Yankees. Black managed the visitors and Simon managed the home team Yankees. As in their previous matchup when the Nationals won by a single run, this game was also very close. The Yankees prevailed this time by one run and the final score was 18-19. With the score tied at 18-18 after eight innings it came down to the ninth frame. The Nationals scored three runs in the top of the inning with hits by Ing and Hampton and doubles by Learn and Hawbaker. The Yankees staged a bottom of the ninth rally scoring four times to secure the win. This was an exciting game by two well matched squads. Leading batters for the Nationals: Schaffer 2/4, Rutan 3/4 HR, Lopez 3/5, Ing 4/5 3B, Learn 3/5 2B, Coffman 3/5, Hawbaker 2/5 2B, Hampton 4/4 BB, Mohan 4/4 BB. Leading batters for the Yankees: Simon 4/5 3B, Accetta 3/5, Grabb 4/5 3B, Hartley 2/4 SF, Mutch 3/5 3B, Fryzowicz 3/5, Dean Schappler 4/5 2B, 3B, Marino 4/4, . Dudley pitched the first part of the game for the Yankees and Gisele Seguin pitched the second the second half of the contest. WP was Gisele Seguin. Great game and good effort by all.
