Barn burner on field B – Tuesday, Jan. 10th
After two so-so, no-no games, the National League was chomping at the bit to start the season and it showed.
Simon's Yankees and Black's Nationals flew out of the gates accounting for 5 runs in each of the first 3 innings. The Nationals continued with 14 more in the next 3 innings as the Yankees cooled off. After 6 innings the score was Nationals 29, Yankees 15. Game over right!!!
Wrong. With the Yankees down by 9 runs in the top of the 9th, scored 10 runs to take a one run lead. The Nats came back with 2 in the bottom to win 33-32.
Hitters, there were many, 13 doubles for the Nats, 12 doubles for the Yankees.
Yankees:
Grabb 5/6
Jacobs 5/6
Dean Schapeler 5/6
Marino 5/6
G Seguin 5/5
Nationals:
Guspyt 5/6
Ridley 5/6
King 6/6
Barnes 5/6
Black 5/6
Many other players on both teams went 4/6.
Winning pitcher Hal Ridley, quite a game you pitched Hal !!!
Losing pitcher, take a pick from the four!
