It was Cold As...

The BP Line Up (They look cold to me)

Fill in the blank ... but it sure was cold this morning. We've been used to playing in 80 degrees plus so fifty was definitely cold.  It could have been worse ... it could have snowed.  Even so we made do without our commish.  Thanks to Chuck Duff and Tom Wise for helping sort out the line-ups. Also let's not fail to mention the umpire expertise of Joe D'herin.  Thanks again Joe!

Today we had a three team American League game on field C and a Two team National League contest on B field.

With a profusion of pitchers, I chose to refer to the teams as Constantine (Hit or Yankees), Gonzalez (Sit or Angels) and Dampier (Field not so Giants) after the lead-off batters for each team.

The hitting team started the scoring with a 5 bagger highlighted by a Kurt Coffman round tripper thanks to  an outfield error allowing the ball to get to the fence.

The "Angels" followed with 7 hits in a row and also scoring 5 runs without making an out.  Regis Finnegan's ground rule double was the hit of the inning. Regis bounced one 20 feet in the air and over the fence off the rock hard warning track.

Team Dampier followed Fred's lead-off double (pretty routine for Fred) with a couple of hits but only scored two in the inning.

The second inning saw the hitting team score the only pair of runs to take the lead.

The excitement in the third was provided by a Les Jacobson shot off the 300ft sign in center field resulting in a double. But even given that start the Yankees only posted two runs. The Angels were only able to get 4 batters to the plate and failed to score.  The Giants meanwhile, managed to post three runs sparked by a JD Davis double.

After three we stood at 9-5-5.

In the fourth the Yankees scored one followed by the "Angels" 4 runs off 6 hits and a gooseegg for the Giants.

The uneventful fifth saw zeros posted by the Hit and Sit squads while the fielding team racked up one.

Then team Constantine was held scoreless in the sixth followed by 3 runs on 5 hits for team Gonzalez and a single run by team Dampier.

After six we had a score of  10-12-7

Then in the final frame the Yankees came through to take the lead by scoring 3 runs as the bottom three of their order all reached base. Then the "Angels" managed to load the bases after two outs but failed to score anyone and the Giants were only able to manage one.

Final score 13-12-8

Leading Hitters:
Team Constantine;
Chris Constantine 3 for 4 with two doubles and Ed Kline 3 for 3 with a triple

Team Gonzalez;
Regis Finnegan 3 for 4 and a double, Ron Butler 3 for 3, George Radlien 3 for 3 and a triple

Team Dampier;
Fred Dampier 3 for 4 and a double
