Winter Haven Senior Softball

On field A on Tues. Feb. 9, the Marlins managed by Jeff Simon played the  Rays managed by Larry Powell.  Field A has the 200 foot fence and the game figured to be a high scoring affair.  Neither team disappointed.  The Marlins jumped out to an 11-6 lead after three innings of play.  Both teams continued their hot bats and the Marlins took an 8 run lead into the ninth frame.  The Rays scored a solo run in the top of the ninth and the final score had the Marlins winning 31-24.  The top hitters for the Rays were:  Burtner 4-5, Marino 4-5, Torok 2-3 BB, Wheeler 3-4, Augenstein 3-4, Borelli 3-4,  Remington 3-5, Harlan 3-5, and Hite 3-5.  The top hitters for the Marlins were:  Duff Hill  4-5, Reagan 4-4 BB, Vandenburg 2-4 BB, Butler 4-5, Accetta 3-5, Simon 4-5, Travis 3-4, Navarro 4-4, O'Callaghan 4-4, Bowley 2-3 BB, Altemose 2-3 SF, LoPiccolo 2-4 and Pat LoPiccolo was the WP.  Submitted by Jeff Simon
