Holiday Break

Hi All,

After Friday's Rain Out, we're all getting a longer than expected holiday break; hopefully the weather will cooperate and let us get some games in this Friday.

First of all since I won't see you until after Christmas, MERRY CHRISTMAS! 

Now then, I must say that I am very well pleased with the new 'web page' so far.  Last month we averaged a little under 100 views per day and so far this month we're well over that, in the neighborhood of 135 hits per day.  I suppose that's partly due to the team rosters being published.  It's not every day we have such interest.

I think we can enhance the utility of the web page by using more of the features available to readers.  One important feature is the 'comments' link at the bottom of every post.  This link allows you to express your ideas to the readers of this page.  The comments are 'moderated' that is the commish or I will review them before they are posted but mainly we're looking for foul language or personal attacks from 'trolls' and not to disturb the intended message.

The comments should be used to offer corrections to the game summaries or to offer suggestions about how we can improve the club or to discuss rules changes, that sort of stuff.  Just leave out the politics.

You can also submit other interesting softball related stuff if you like.  Just email whatever to me or Bob and if it fits within our context,  we'll post it for everyone's benefit.  Yes, we can post pictures or video snips too.  Likewise, if there's anything you would like us to post just let us know and we'll try to accommodate it.  Speaking of pictures, Gene Baker has been especially prolific lately.  Check out the albums link.  You may find an action shot of yourself!

Likewise check out the Hall of Fame pages.  We're trying to fill out the HoF list with more detail so if you have articles or links to information related to our HoF inductees please send it along and we'll get it posted.

Also note that we try to notify players about such things as Rain Outs as promptly as possible.  On game days we show up at the fields before 7am and make a judgement call on whether the fields can be used or not.  Then we try to get a notice posted on the web page before 7:15am or so.  So if you have any idea that we might not be playing, check the web page before you leave home.  It might save you a trip.
