RECAP OF THE GAMES FOR THE WEEK OF 10/26 - 10/29

The National League has a very good 3 team game today while the American League was battling Kissimmee on Field D.
Managers were Wally, Zelazny and  Vandenberg. Started off 5-0-2 after 2 innings and then the Vandenberg team took charge by posting nickels in 3 of the last 4 innings they had to bat in and 2 in the other for a total of 17.  They did not have to bat in the 7th, protecting their lead. The Z team really never really got any traction, scoring 2 in the first , fifth and one in the 6th for the grand total of 5. Wally's team gave it a good run posting nickels in innings 1 and 5 and three in the 4th for the total of 13. So a final score of 17-13-5.

The hitters were a bit difficult as one score sheet only had runs and outs recorded with no hits, errors or FC to indicate how they reached base. But I will list the other 2 teams.

4 hits   Laffoon with 3 singles and a double
3 hits.  Zelazny, Grabb, Gutenberger, Rutan,
Miller, Lynch with a home run
2 hits   Witmer, Vandenberg, Castillega
             Wells and Fabian.

The American League Winter Haven blue team took on the white team from Kissimmee.

Game one was back and forth, but our team had a few errors and Kissimmee edged us out 13-12.

Game two was a different story. After a line-up change, we came out hitting the ball like champs. The blue team just kept pouring on the runs. We won 18-2, yes, that was the score. We found our mojo and couldn’t be stopped. We’d like to thank the Kissimmee crew for coming down and playing. I’d also like to thank Don Keller for playing with the Kissimmee team.

  1. Tom Hamilton 4/7
  2. Mike Vaccaro 3/6
  3. Tony Lainhart 3/7
  4. Dave Doerbaum 5/7
  5. Lou Guzman 3/7
  6. Dana Ferrande 3/7
  7. Tony Quinones 4/7
  8. Al Guzzo 4/7
  9. Rad Pcholinski 3/6
  10. Dave Shirer 4/7
  11. Jose Rodriguez 1/4
  12. JD Davis 3/4
  13. Mark Tutrani 4/5
  14. Tom Kniery 2/2

Write up From LGG.

After a significant rainstorm of Thursday evening, no thought we would be able to play on Friday. However, the good folks at the City of Winter Haven have been working on the fields this summer and we were able to use two fields today. We had just enough players to have four teams today. The National League played on Field E with 22 players. They finished their game in record time and no one has provided me a writeup yet. If I get one, I will provide more details.

The American League game on Field D stayed close until the 9th inning when the visiting team team took a five run lead. With the score tied 20-20 at the bottom of the 8th inning, the top of the lineup for the Visiting team showed their batting strength with Hits coming from Tommy Hamilton 4/6, Jose Rodriquez 2/6 but 4 hard line drives to  Rad Pcholinski , Eddie Hurn 6/6, Tom Kniery 4/6, Bill Testa 4/6, and an "in the park" home run by Rawlinson Santaella 5/6. The Home team could only muster one run in the bottom of the ninth with the final score of 25-21. The Home team had their hitters too. Lou Guzman hit an over the fence home run in the first inning to take a 3-2 lead over the visiting team. Lou went on the hit for the cycle and was 5/6 at the plate. Gary Dawson was 5/5 with a walk, Tony Quinones was 5/6, Pete Gutenberger and Don Witmer were 4/6.
