Today the crew of Winter Haven American League took on the team from Sebring in a two-game match up.
Game one was back and forth until the 7th inning. In the 7th, Sebring scored four runs to go ahead 23-17. Winter Haven could only produce one run in the bottom of the 7th to lose 23-18. Game two, however, was a different story. After some defensive changes and batting order realignment by coach Lou, the Winter Haven gray team shut down Sebring’s offense. Can I say it was like a top 40s radio station? The hits just kept on coming! Don Fee’s 2 home runs, as he did in game one, and Dave Doerbaum’s home run, as he did in game one, gave the team the charge it needed. Sebring walked Doerbaum twice to avoid his offensive power only to be punished by Don Fee’s home run ability. Score was 19-6.
Hitters like Dana Ferrande (6/7), Tommy Hamilton (5/7), and Al Guzzo (5/7) kept the pressure on. Tony Quinones and Lou Guzman smacked the ball around hitting .571, and JD’s 3/5 performances while Radley Pcholinski flashed some leather to keep the Sebring team off the bases.
John Davis aka JD and Mark Tutrani turned in great pitching performances.
The team hit .590 for the day— not bad compared to the last game we played! We look forward to playing Solivita on October 19th, and we are planning to schedule a game against Kissimmee on October 26th.
Don Fee, 4 home runs, .875
Dave Doerbaum, 2 home runs, .600
Dana Ferrande hit .857
Al Guzzo and Tommy Hamilton both hit .714
Tony Quinones and Lou Guzman both hit .571
Other players for the day were Manny Rios, Radley Pcholinski, Steven Hicks, Tom Kniery, JD Davis, and Mark Tutrani .

The National League had another three team game today. Thirty three players showed up to play ball on what was another hot summer day. No one reported the scores today so I don't have any information to report. Fabian was taking care of business at the American Legion with the Quilts of Valor program.
