RECAP FOR THE WEEK OF 10/12 - 10/15

I did not get a writeup for Tuesday's game so I will wing it. I did not play on Tuesday but shared umpiring with Joe D'Herin. We had 41 people sign up to play but not a good enough mix to have 4 teams. So, we had another three team game with 14 players on two teams and 13 players on one team. We played 5 outfielders on each team so no one has to sit more than an inning or two. The score stayed close for most of the game and the final score was 13-10-5.

On Friday, we ended up with 45 players so we made four teams. Managers today were Spitaleri and O'Callaghan. First the hitters  which were plentiful.

4 hits. Vandenberg and Spitaleri. Robert's
was an inside park grand slam in
the open inning to salt the game
             away.
3 hits. Castilleja, DeRidder, Fabian, Dowdy and
new comer Charlie Hicks who followed
Robert's grand slam with a solo shot.
2 hits. Boswell, Boito, Laffoon, O'Callaghan,
            Learn, Swenson, Muniz, Capozzi.

It started out 4-4 after 1 inning and was 8-7 after 4 in favor of Mike's team and 10-7 after 6 looking like Mike's could cruise to a win. BUT - this is senior softball and they put up 3 back to back to back goose eggs while Robert's team scored 1, 3  and 5 in the last 3 innings for a final of 17-10 in favor of Robert's team. There were very few errors the whole game and I must commend both teams for making nearly all the routine plays. Let's keep up the clean defense.
See y'all Tuesday.

Write up by Loren  Fabian.

The American League had two teams of 10 and the Commish played infield for both teams so they would get more at bats. The American League game was played on Field B and the sun was a major factor for the left handed batters. I think that was one of the reasons the score stayed low. The final score was 9-6 after 9 innings. A big Thanks to Lou Guzman for umpiring the game.

There was a board meeting after the games on Tuesday. The Board voted to select Lou Guzman to fill the board vacancy that Willie Morton left. Lou will complete Willie's term. Lou was an excellent choice for the board. Also, there will be a game time change beginning on Tuesday, November 16th. You will need to be there NO LATER THAN 9:00 AM. Games will begin at 9:30 AM. It is important that you show up on time so the teams can be put together and the games start on time.

There will not be any games this Friday, October 22, due to a Diamond 9 Girls softball tournament that begins on Friday morning.
