Tuesday, February 13th
All the scoring was concentrated in the early and late innings .  The Tigers scored 6 runs in the first two innings , as they came out searching for their prey, while the Yankees tallied 4 of their own .  Hamilton “homered” & Poke did the “hokey-pokey” with a clutch  double to lead the Tigers .   Rivera, Alumbaugh, Guzman & Jacobsen each singled as the Yankees attempted to hold serve .  Things quieted down considerably in the mid-innings , as the Yankees shot a sedative into the Tigers veins holding them scoreless in all but the 6th inning .  That inning the Tigers tallied 4 runs, as Witmer-Scarborough -Gonzalez-Murphy led the hit parade .  Not to be undone , the Yankees responded with 5 runs of their own. Jacobsen-Toro-Book-Carpenter-DeRidder, sang their version of “Yankee Doodle Dandy” to even the score at 10-10 after 6 complete innings .   That’s when the Yankees
pitcher , Larry Book , closed the final chapter , with 3 scoreless innings , while the Yankees offense put the final exclamation mark , with 4 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to seal the deal .  Jacobsen-Toro-Carpenter-Guttenberger provided the key hits .
