Field D for National league was a barn burner ending up with Fabe's Flyers on top of Strait's Sluggers 21-18 but it wasn't easy. Since we're coming close to the draft and league teams I will start using names I selected last year. Most managers have volunteered and/or have been selected but we could use more volunteer managers. Fabian's Flyers jumped out on top 4-1 after 2 innings and 11-4 after 5 innings and 13-7 after 6. But Strait'Sluggers slugged their way to 8 runs and tie it up 15-15 after 7 innings. Neither team scored in the 8th but Fabian had the top of the order coming up in the top of the 9th and exploded for 6 runs. Strait had the middle of the order coming up and could only muster 3 runs before a grounder back to winning pitcher Jerry Witter for the final out.
I would like to welcome newcomer Ken Gilpen who got a batting average his first game and was 3-5. Welcome Ken.
Ray Roy had a fantastic day at second base and Rudy LaPointe had 2 put outs at the plate thanks to very good relay throws from Sam Lopez and Fred Dampier or it could have been a whole different ball game.
Strait's hitters. Capozzi 2-4. Marino 5-5. Leveque5-5. McLellan 3-5. Gilpin 3-5. Strait 3-5
Fabe's hitters. Hite 2-5. Dampier 4-4. R. Roy 4-5. Herb O. 2-5. Schapeler 3-5. Lopez 4-5. Thompson 3-5. Witter 2-5. Fabian 2-5. LaPointe 2-5. Minder 3-4. McPartlan 2-4. Merritt 1-3.
See y'all Tuesday.
