When we arrived at the park today we found the grounds crew setting up the fields for a tournament this weekend. As a result we ended up playing our first game of the season on Golds Gym Field. We sent the youngsters over there to face off.

GOLDS GYM FIELD

The Visitors were lead  by new BOD member Tome Hamilton. His lineup was deep whose players included Dampier, Hamilton, Toro, Duff, DeRidder, D'Herin, Giordano, Coffman, Constantine, Poke, Davis, and King. They scored in every inning except the eighth and had a 13 run lead after the third which proved to be enough for the victory. They were not done however and scored another nine runs before it was over.  Every player had at least on hit with Hamilton, triple being the power hit. Toro did provide some great support with three doubles.

The Home Team was led by another new BOD member, The Commish Donnie Witmer. His line up was formidable with the likes of Gonzalez, Rivera, Keller,Ramos, Laffoon, Witmer, Jacobson, Smith, Pepin, Denny,Benson, Kallister, and Van Der Berg. They were held
scoreless by JD through the first four innings. In the fifth, the first six batters reached base and scored as Denny had a big triple. The home team managed just six more runs in the last four innings, being shutout in both the sixth and eighth innings. They did start strong in the ninth and had the first four batters reach base. This was followed by three fly balls to the oufield and the game ended. Final score Visitors 22 and Home  12.

They scoreed four in the first by scoring four in the first. They wasted no time building a lead as Steve Hill had a triple to drive in the first three of four runs. They scored in three of the next four innings as well with Steve getting his second triple of the day. At the end of six they had scored 12 runs.

Jeff Simon managed the home team of himself, Hite, Scarbrough, Zelazny, Marino, Duff Hill, Burns, Wells, Bess,Merritt, Walsko, and Gene Baker. They did manage to close the gap a little as they outscored the visitors in the next three innings. They still found themselves on the short end of the straw 12-9.

The seventh inning was the most prolific in terms of scoring for both teams. The visitors scored  four quick runs and then loaded the bases before making the third out. It was then the home teams opportunity and they took maximum advantage of the opportunity as they scored seven runs to knot the game up at 16 a piece.
