It was 13 to 12 in favor of Simon's Yanks over Fabian's Flyers going into the bottom of the 7th when Fabe's Flyers erupted for a nickel and held Simon's Yankees in check in the top of the eighth and put up another 5 in the bottom of the eighth and the Flyers held on for a 22-17 win as Simon did get 4 more in top of the 9th.
Every time Jim Laffoon and I looked, Larry Grabb was standing on 2nd base as he was 3-5. Jeff Simon was also 3-5 with 2 doubles, big Dean Schapeler was 4-5, Ray DePalma was 3-4, Gene Dudley was 3-4 and pool player, good ole Fred Ducham was 3-4 as a pool player. Freddy is a tough out. G. Seguin pitched a fine game and also had 2 hits. Frank Jacobs had 2 doubles over the wall, one of them banged off the scoreboard loudly. 2 of the outs he made were smash line drives, one to George Knox at 2nd the other to Al Andrews in left center which Al made a great catch on to go along with at least 8 other put outs he made and a relay to Jim to the plate for another out.
For the Flyers, Ralph had a shot at his face which he got his glove up in time and snagged it right in his palm not the web. Great catch Ralph. I also had a pretty good backhand up the middle and flip to 2nd to end a rally. Hitters for the Flyers as usual Laffoon 5-5, Don Schapeler 3-4, Rudy LaPointe 4-4 with one over the wall, George Knox 3-4, wild Bill Bowley 4-4, Mike O'Callahan 3-4, Jim McPartlan 3-4 and Fabian 3-4.
Ed Kline started on the mound and did a fine job for 5 innings then Jerry Witter came in from the bullpen to finish up so he's getting a save and the win since Ed already had 3 wins. I love the way these 2 fantastic pitchers are willing to work together. Thanks guys. Kind of makes managing easy.
