American League recap 2022
I wanted to take a few minutes to bring everyone up to date on what’s been going on in the American League.
First, I want to thank all of the snowbirds. It was a pleasure sharing the field with all of these great players. While some have already headed back up north, we still have a few players enjoying our Florida weather for a while longer. I’d like to recognize our snowbirds:
Tommy Hamilton, Lonnie Netzel, JD Davis, Bradley Scheirer, Doug McKinney, Al Guzzo, Lenny DeBroeck, Bob Schultheis, Frank Deluca, Jeff Stier, Scott Sequin, and Rob Reed.
Safe travels, my friends.
Now to the games.
On Tuesday, April 12, the Blue and Red teams took on the crew out of Kissimmee. Right from the start, Miguel Gonzalez of Kissimmee baffled the Blue team hitters, holding them to a zero while Kissimmee scored 8, but not for long. After home runs by Dave Doerbaum, Lou Guzman, Bradley Scheirer, and Manny Rios, the Blue team won 16-12.
Game two was no different. The Red team came out hammering, beating the Kissimmee team 22-9.
On Sunday, April 16, the Winter Haven team (aka Blue Knights) went to Seminole county to take on the Senior team from Deltona. This wasn’t much of a battle as the Knights won 16-0 and 15-6. In game one, BJ Kallister pitched a gem.
Tuesday, April 19, the Red and Blue teams took on the sluggers from Sebring. Game one was a battle. At the end of the 6th, we were up 6-5. Sebring came back to tie the game in the top of the 7th. Finally, the Red team scored a walk off winning hit to win 6-7. In game two, the Blue team scored 0, 2,3,4,0,2,5, winning 16-7. There were some defensive plays by Al Guzzo, Lonnie Netzel, and Lou Guzman.
We look forward to playing the bombers of Solivita on Thursday, April 28, at Solivita.
I’d like to thank the managers from Kissimmee, Sebring, and Solivita for working with us to set up these games.
Luis Guzman, Blue team manager; JD Davis, Red team manager.
Write up from LGG.
