Tuesday, June 6th
Thirty six ball players showed up today to play what turned out to be one heck of a three team game. I'm not sure who the managers were as I was doing the umpiring so I'll say the teams were Strait's Smashers, Simon's Sluggers and Thompson's Blazers. After 3 innings it was 3-6-0 as Thompson put up goose eggs in the first 3 innings while Simon was scoring in every inning and Strait put up their crooked 3 in the 2nd. Then it got interesting as Strait got 1 in the 4th and 6 in the 6th for a total of 10. Simon got 3 in the 4th and 1 in the 7th for a total of 10. Well Thompson's woke up in the 4th, scoring 5 and scoring 5 again in the 5th with the same 5 hitters at the top of the order scored all 10 of the runs. Boswell, Witmer, Shirer, DeRidder and Pete with Book breaking out of his 2 week mini hitting slump by driving in Pete on a booming double with the tying run. All tied at 10-10--10 with Thompson's team coming up in the bottom of the open frame. Simon's team got the first 2 outs but then Boswell and Witmer got back to back singles then Shirer stepped up with another booming blast to the fence for a walk off double. Great game.
