Today was the most exciting and competitive three team game of the season.
The Pirates led by Floyd Welton, Mgr, the Nationals led by Elmer Black, Mgr, and the Braves led by Larry Powell,Mgr, battled to the end of seven innings to finish with two teams tied and one team one run behind.
The Pirates started scoring runs in the first inning with 4 runs with Fred  Dampier hitting a three run triple to lead the way.The Braves kept pace by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning with 6 straight hits.
The Braves took the lead in the bottom of the second inning by scoring 2 runs on Larry Powell's double. The Nationals added 5 runs in the third inning to catch up on 6 singles.
The fourth inning was high scoring for all three teams. The Pirates scored 4 runs with Fred Dampier second triple. The Nationals added 5 runs to their score on Steve Hill's grand slam home run. The Braves scored three runs on Bill McLellan home run.The Pirates scored 4 runs in the sixth inning on Fred Dampier home run.
The other two teams were shut out. The score at the end of 6 innings was Pirates-16, The Nationals-15, The Braves-14.  
The Pirates scored one run in the top of the inning, The Nationals rallied to score two runs to tie the game 17-17. The Braves were down by 3 but were only able to score two runs.
Final Score-Pirates-17, Nationals-17, Braves-16 

Pirates hitters were:
Ed Kline 4-4 one triple, Frank Miller 4-4 one double, Fred Dampier 3-4 two triples, one home run, Reg Barnes 3-4.
Nationals hitters were:
Jim Altemose 2-3 one walk, Sam Lopez 4-4 two doubles, Steve Hill 3-3 one home run, one walk, Billy Crowe 3-4 one triple,Bill Ayer 4-4
Braves hitters were:
Russ King 3-4 one triple, Bill McLellan 4-4 one home run, one double,Sergio Ayala 2-3 one triple, Larry Powell 3-3 one double.
