Our favorite umpire instructor, Denny Holder has been missing in action for most of the summer due to his wife's illness. She's been in and out of the hospital several times this summer.
Wayne Mundy reports that his wife is now doing OK after having a tough go with cataract surgery.
I saw George Radlein today at the Lakeland Senior Softball games. I did hear that he's been in and out of the hospital with dehydration problems but is now home and doing well enough to come out and watch us play. So that's a good thing since we need all the fans we can get.
The last I heard Nick Matta is still experiencing swelling and pain after his knee surgery. But I'm quite sure his girls are keeping him supplied with cookies not to mention comfort.
I haven't heard from Sammy Lopez lately but the last time I saw him we was walking about with a cane.
Please keep Denny, Wayne, George, Nick, Sammy and their families in your thoughts and prayers. We wish them all a speedy and complete recovery.
In other notes; Please vote (if you haven't already) for the Board of Directors. Voting closes at the end of the month. Ballots can be printed from the web page and mailed in or dropped off at the ball field.
If you own an Android device such as a tablet or smart phone, the Winter Haven Senior Softball 'droid app' is now available from the Play Store for download. That means that it's at least as safe as Google can make it and that it meets Android specs. Just search on Senior Softball.
Later,
Ron
