Happy Valentine’s Day! What a game between the Dukes (V) and the Warriors (H). The Dukes started the scoring with 5 runs in the 1st and 2nd innings on multiple hits and questionable defense by the Warriors. The Warriors answered with just 2 runs in each of the first innings led by Steve Hicks’ triple. The Warriors scored 2 more in the fourth and 3 in the fifth, led by Don Keller’s HR. The Dukes scored 2 in the fifth, leaving the score after 5 innings: Dukes 12-Warriors 9. There was no more scoring until the 9th with the Dukes scoring 1 run and the Warriors scoring 4 to tie the score 13-13 capped by Jerry DeJongh’s HR. Then all Hell broke loose! The Dukes scoring 6 runs capped by George Vanderhyde’s HR. The Warriors scored 6 of their own capped by another HR from Jerry DeJongh and a 2B by Don Keller. It was a tie score after 10 innings 19-19.
