RECAP FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 20 - JULY 23

On Tuesday, we were not sure if we were going to get to play or not. The Monday nights games got rained out and it rained later that evening. When I got to  the ballpark, four of the fields had standing water. Luckily, Field C was just a little wet and would dry out by game time. We had 32 players signed up at game time so we had another 7 inning three team game. Bob Zelazny, Robert Spitaleri and Don Witmer managed the three teams. The score stayed close for most of the game so we did not get to flip flop in the seventh inning.  Final score was 12-11-8 with Zelazny coming from behind in the seventh inning to win the game.

On Thursday, the American League traveled to Solivita to play a double header.

The Winter Haven boys took both games in a decisive manner, 14-5 and 8-19.

The Winter Haven Gray Team was in top form. Dave Doerbaum led the charge going 8-8 with 4 home runs.

Don Fee and Lou Guzman both hit home runs.

The balance of the team made hit after hit.

We are looking to take them on again next month. Stay tuned for more games in the future.

Write up by Lou Guzman

Today was a repeat of Tuesday except the weather was different. It was hot, humid and no breeze. We decided to play six innings today.  We had 32 players sign up. Three teams were managed by Bob Zelazny, Freddie Gonzalez and Don Witmer. We had nine American League players playing today. Some of the National League regulars are on vacation and Steve Hill is back from his stay up north.  Zelazny's and Witmer's team started out hot while Gonzalez's team kept hitting the ball right to the defense. However, Gonzalez's team got back on track in the fifth inning scoring 6 runs to tie it up with Zelazny, 8-8. No flip flop today. In the Sixth inning Gonzalez's team continued their hitting streak and scored four more runs. However, it was not enough to overcome the six run lead that Witmer's team had. Final Score was 14-12-8
