Happy Halloween Game, Friday, 10/27
Sing along with me.
“They are creepy and they’re kookie, mysterious and spooky
They're all together ooky, the WHSS family
They are old enough to be in a museum, when people come to see-em, They really are a scre-um the WHSS Family.”

The American League game at the Diamondplex was a treat, and both teams supplied a few tricks. The first treat the players experienced was the weather; it was a perfect softball day, sunny, light breeze and temps in the mid 70’s. The 2nd treat was the game itself, a close battle between friends, that was really fun to play.
Maybe this game can answer the Halloween television question which was the better show The Munsters, or The Addams Family?
Team Munsters, Visitors: Reagan, Hamilton, Shirer, Jacobson, JD, Pepin, Shapler, Coffman, Boswell, Constantine and Torok.
Team Addams Family, Home: Hicks, Guzzo, Doerbaum, Guzman, Matta, Zelazny, Book, Butler, Burns, Pinnick and Wells.
The Munsters started out hitting like they were stuck in a moat. They played like grandpa Munster, only scoring a single run in the first two innings. The Addams Family started out with panache, just like Gomez Addams. “Cara Mia”, the team came out hitting. Hicks singled, Guzzo hit a double, Doerbaum doubled off the fence, Guzman, Matta and Zelazny all singled. Book then walked and Burns capped off the inning with a single, to drive in the 5th run. In all, 7 out of the first 8 batters reached base that inning. We were on a terror. After 2 innings the score was Munsters:1-Adams Family: 5.
Both teams hammered the ball in the 3rd inning. Constantine, Reagan, Hamilton, Shirer and JD hit as hard as Herman Munster driving a sledge hammer. They scored 5 runs. Not to be outdone, the Addams Family answered the doorbell with “Lurch”, the butler, power, when we batted in the bottom of the inning. Doerbaum, Guzman, Matta, Book, Butler and Burns all had monster hits. We rang up 5 runs of our own. (You rang). After 3 innings the score was Munsters: 6 -Addams Family: 10.
Both teams continued to be frightfully good with the bats throughout the game. Hits and runs were handed out like someone handing out Halloween candy by the fistful. By the 9th inning the Addams Family team held a 5-run lead, 23-18. The Munsters came up to bat with bad intentions, they wanted to rally and lock up the Addams team in an Egyptian burial sarcophagus. However, their nightmare never materialized, they were chained up by Josh Wells and placed in the dungeon, they were shut out in the 9th. Final Score, Munsters: 19- Addams family: 23. The Addams Family team was happier than uncle Fester in a room full of light bulbs.
