Bill moved to Florida in 1985. He joined the Winter Haven Senior Softball Club in the mid 1990s and retired after the 2008 season, when his team finished first in the standings.
He loved to watch the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox, was an avid salt and freshwater fisherman, and was heavily involved in volunteer fire service. He was a Captain on the Tiogue Fire Department, Chief of the Ladd School Volunteer Fire Company, and taught Fire Service for 3 years at Ridge Vo-Tech.
