Friday 26 September Game

We were blessed with perfect weather conditions for today's game.. The game itself wasn't bad either. We had three teams lead by Steve Hill (hitting team), JD Davis (sitting team) and Robert Spitalari (fielding team). With 36 players we were able to play with five outfielders which is a plus if you happen to play on the grass.

Team Hill broke his string of starting  the first inning with five runs at six games. They did manage to put up five in the second but alas it wasn't the first and the string has been broken. I don't know if it was anemic bats or the additional outfielder, but Team Hill scored a scant nine runs through six innings.

Team Davis found themselves in last place after two innings. They did manage to score more runs then team Hill in the following flour innings to be out front of Team Hill by 4 runs after six. Again I don't know if it was the bats or the defense but it is hard to believe Team Davis only managed 13 runs through the sixth given their line up.

Team Spitlalari was not put off by the fact there were five outfielders. The surgically placed the ball where Team Davis' players weren"t and built a substantial lead early in the game. They scored multiple runs in every inning and went into the seventh inning with an eight runs lead.

The seventh inning proved to be exciting and worth hanging around for.Unfortunately for Team Hill they went three and out. With the outcome not in doubt, players began putting their stuff away. Who would have guessed  that Coach Davis would motivate hie team by letting everyone know that "it ain't over til it's over" Team Davis batted around in the seventh and put up nine runs to take the lead by one. With Team Spitalari needing one to tie and two to win, the first batter grounded out. Unfortunately for Team Davis, the next three batters reached base and pushed the winning run across the plate. Final score Team Spitalari 23, TEam Davis 22, and Team Hill 9,

Outstanding performances
Herbie Munez 3-3
JD Davis 4-5
Bill Testa 4-4
JR 4-4 w/triple
Robert Spitalari 4-4
Jose Cruz 4-4
