Tuesday Game Recap

Before we get into today's game. Let me ask again that everyone calls or signs in no later than 08:30. Today we could have had two two-team games if everyone had been on time. Unfortunately, half a dozen players arrived late (one nearly 20 minutes late). well after we had begun drafting teams and way too late to have the second field lined and ready for play. Consequently we had to play with fourteen and fifteen players on a team. It isn't fair to those who arrive on time.

Now that I have given my speech on that, let's get to what proved to be a very exciting game. Steve Hill, Don Ouding, and Dave Rounds volunteered (with a little arm twisting) to manage the teams. Please thank them, as well as Bob Spitaleri, Wally, Fred Deloach, JD, and Sam Lopez, because without all of them, we couldn't get the games underway and played.

The game started with both teams scoring six runs through the third inning. The fourth inning saw Team Hill taking a huge lead by scoring five runs to Round's zero, and Ouding's 2. It was a different story in the fifth inning when Team Ouding managed to pull even with Team Hill.. The sixth saw Team Ouding and Hill shut out while Team Rounds scored  one to make a real game of it.

Team Hill pushed two runs across in the top of the seventh to take a two run lead. Team Rounds managed one run, but that doesn't tell the whole story as the bases were loaded when the last out was made. Team Ouding needed two runs to tie and three to win, with the bottom of their line up coming to bat. Fredy Dampier led off  with a triple to pull them close. Unfortunately for Team Hill, the next four batters got on base and scored when Dolyle hit one over the outstretched arms of the outfielders. Final score was Team Ouding 15, Team Hill 14, and Team Rounds 8.
