Tuesday, December 6, 2016  Field C.

A two team game was played on Field C from National League players.  Visiting team Managed by Larry Strait and the Home team managed by Larry Powell.

Visitors players were S. Hill, Kline, Guspyt, McLellan, Learn, Strait, Thompson, Witter and G. Baker.  Home team players were Jones, D Hill, Spitaleri, Zakrowski, Bess, Powell, Goreth, Lopiccolo, Barnes, LaMay, and Welton.

First a note about scorekeeping.  I here from many of the players that they like to read the article about the ball games.  Well it is difficult to write an article when you cannot tell what players are doing.  Every ball hit is not a hit, some are errors some are Fielder’s Choice. The score sheet shows BB (Base on Balls) 1B (Single) and so forth – mark the on the sheet.   Thanks.

Now to the game.  Visitors blasted off for 5 runs in the first two innings and were held scoreless in the 3^rd.  5 more in the 4^th and 4 in the 5^th.  Well you get the idea anyway.  Home team rallied for 1 in the first and two in the 3^rd and 4^th.  But the 5^th was a big inning for the home team.  We batted around plus some and put up 8 big runs in the 5^th.  The visitors came back with another 11 runs over the next 3 innings for a total of 30 runs.  After the home team managed only one hit in the bottom of the 8^th, Manager Powell put a plan together to score 16 runs in the bottom of the 9^th to come back and tie the ball game.  Just about the time we were about to take the field it started to rain.  The visitors picked up their bats and gloves and went home.  Does that mean we won the ball game?  No just kidding guys.  It was a fun day and an awesome show of hitting. 

Steve Hill and Learn hit home runs.  Both well hit homers.

Oh ! the final score was 30 to 14.

Tuesday, December 6th.

A very fine mixture of America and National League players with Don Witmer running the visiting Warriors and Bob Z running the home team Zephers. 

    I did not play because of an ailing right hip and knee and choose to rest it with league coming soon. Some others that have been ailing but keep pushing should think about that. I did do the umpire thing and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not a single disagreement. 

    Don's Warriors scored early and often and were ahead 17-5 after 5 innings, then a light came on for the Zephers as they got 8 in the 6th and 4 in the 7th to tie it at 17 all. What a come back. That's why it's called a game. 

    Then each team scored 1 in the 8th to keep it tied at 18. The visitors came to bat in the 9th and had a merry go round for 8 runs and the skies opened up with rain as the last out of the inning was made and all the games were called so this one ended in an 18-18 tie because the home team did not get their at bat. 

    Still need better score keeping and penmanship. There was one brand new player on each team. One was Don McCulloch who was 2 for 5 and the other was George Knox who was 1 for 4 with a walk and 2 runs scored. WELCOME NEW BALL PLAYERS. Hope ya'll had fun. If not its your fault.

Starting tomorrow, Tuesday December 6th, game time changes from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM. Please be at the ballpark no later than 9:00 AM. We are trying to manage over 80 people and it is necessary to know the exact number of people who are there in order to make up the teams.


The weather report calls for rain tomorrow morning. Please look at the website in the morning before you drive to the ball fields to make sure we are playing ball.

Field B December 2, 2016

A three team game was played on Field B today.  Weather today was perfect for the game.  Nice breeze blowing in from left field.  Temp about 70 degrees.  Elmer Black’s Hit team fielded S. Hill, Thompson, Lapointe, Spitaleri, Andrews, Strait, Leggett, Black, McPartlan, G. Baker and Newton.  Bloom Sit team warmed the bench with Jones, Taylor, Grabb, McLellan, Grass, Hawbaker, Wheeler, Fabian, Lopiccolo, L. Baker and Bloom.  Powell Field team took the field and batted in this order: Kline, D. Hill, Capozzi, Guspyt, Rutan, Bess, Powell, Witter, Dudley, Nolette and LaMay.

Steve Hill lead off the first for Black’s team with a single as does Thompson, then after an infield out three singles from Andrews, Strait, and Leggett netted 5 runs. Blooms Sit team with Jones at the plate lined a triple and Grabb a double and he scored on an infield out for their second run of the inning.  Powell’s team after one out had a single from D. Hill a walk to Capozzi and base hits from Guspyt, Rutan, Bess and Powell to net 4 runs for the Field team.  After one Black 5 –Bloom 2 and Powell 4. After the first this game turned out to be a two team game.  However Bloom’s team did rally in the 6^th for 3 runs and 3 for in the 7th.  After six Black and Powell teams were tied at 18. 

Top of the lineup, for the tied team to come up in the 7^th.  Black’s team went down 1 2 3 on some nice fielding plays and all Powell team had to do was push across one run to win the game.  Kline led off with a single up the middle and D. Hill moved him to second with a liner to left, but that was all she wrote and the game ended Hit (Black) 18, Sit (Bloom) 11 and Field (Powell) 18. 

Leading hitters Hit team: LaPointe 3 for 5, Spitaleri 3 for 4, Strait 5 for 5 and Leggett 4 for 4. 

Leading hitters Sit team Taylor 3 for 4, Grabb 4 for 4 w/ HR and 3B, Bloom 2 for 3.

Leading hitters for Field team D. Hill 4 for 5, Rutan 3 for 4, Bess 3 for 4, Dudley 3 for 4, LaMay 3 for 4.  Special note:  Nolette (new comer) was 4 for 4 with a home run and a double.
